LTSSM State Categories

The LTSSM has several major categories: Detect (initialization), Polling (bit/symbol lock), Configuration (link/lane negotiation), L0 (normal operation), Recovery (retraining), L0s/L1/L2 (power management), Hot Reset, Disabled, and Loopback (test mode).

Normal vs Abnormal Recovery

Recovery is normal during ASPM transitions (L0s/L1 exit) and speed changes. However, repeated recovery without a stable L0, or repeated Recovery.Speed specifically, typically indicates a link training problem that requires investigation.
